The online fonds |
While completing my graduate degree in archival studies, I felt an urge to collect my personal online fonds for the curious. In essence, everything I post here is imbued with meaning for me. Guardian Eyewitness: Trigger happy
Boys play with toy guns, as others enjoy a match of the board game, carrom, in the Yemeni capital of Sana’a, one of the world’s oldest continually inhabited cities.(Muhammed Muheisen/AP)
It’s a lot to take in: ominous, then innocent, then devastating. My eye is drawn to the girl, tellingly concealed and contained in the doorway, solitary among brothers, watching not the scene but the photographer. Her counterpoint is the little boy on the far right, making a gesture every little boy at one time or another has made or will make. I hope he outgrows guns. I hope he develops a fondness for board games. I hope he’s good to his sister.
